Cantor Sarra Allegra Spierer received her Ordination from
the Cantor Educator Program at Hebrew College in Newton,
MA. This course of study prepares cantors who are educator-scholars
as well as spiritual leaders.
Sarra studied for two years at the H.L. Miller Cantorial
School of the Jewish Theological Seminary in NYC, and
returned to her native New England to complete her studies
in the transdenominational setting of Hebrew College.
With a foundation from both of these institutions, Sarra
has learned about serving the needs of a broad spectrum
of Jewish communities.
Sarra leads Shabbat, High Holiday, Festival and weekday
minyanim, as well as family, children's, and seniors'
services in Reform and Conservative congregations. She
teaches classes and works with both children and adults
in their b'nai mitzvah preparation. She also has completed
an intensive program of clinical pastoral education at
Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. Sarra is an
active participant in both interfaith learning and meditation.
Additionally, she was a member of the Zamir Chorale of
Boston, and a participant in the film "Zamir: Jewish Voices
Return to Poland."
Sarra enjoys her role as a spiritual leader in warm, participatory
congregations, where she aims to open doors through which
people of all ages and backgrounds can explore and express
their Judaism.
Sarra is serving as part-time Cantor and Pastoral Associate
at Congregation Beth Elohim in Acton, MA.
